dAdiigii’s Latest Song Pay’s Tribute to His Late Wife

asd

Mostly well known for his big hits that pack the dancefloors at clubs and concerts, popular PNG artist dAdiigii reveals another side of himself with his latest offering ‘Missim Yu Tumas’

The song is a tribute to his late wife and mother to his two children – Maggeret Gomara – who passed away in 2013, from a rare cancer while he was on tour away up in the Highlands. In the song dAdiigii shows a rare vulnerability that you don’t often see from well known artists.

Her passing had a massive impact on him as he struggled to cope with the loss and he essentially went into a period of mourning in which he struggled to find meaning in life. ““I felt empty so I left work, I gave up on music and went back to Lae to be closer to my immediate family to cope with it. My dad also passed away in the same year,” he says.

Ultimately he found a way to summon the strength to carry on and to move forward with his life and this song is his way of expressing himself and the emotions he struggled to express during that difficult time.

Stylistically this is also a change for dAdiigii as ‘Missim Yu Tumas’ is essentially a country rock love ballad, something very different to his signature local pop sound which his fans love him for.

The song and video will be out from Mid July 2017

asd

Kid Nesian, the fast rising reggae sensation from Papua New Guinea, has collaborated with international dancehall star Chi Ching Ching for his latest release – “Lalomu”.

It’s been an interesting journey for the young 21 year old reggae singer. It was only 12 months ago when he put out his very first single “Stap Wantaim Yu” with his record label CHM Supersound. And since then his songs have hit no.1 on the Pacific Top 20 Charts, have charted in the Top 10 of the Australian Top 25 Reggae Charts, have received airplay from Reggae radio stations in the US, Europe and Latin America and have dominated radio stations around the South Pacific.

Kid Nesian is excited to be collaborating with the Jamaican dancehall star on his latest release, saying “I’m a big fan of Chi Ching Ching’s music, so I was super excited when he agreed to jump on the track. His style is so unique and I love the energy and vibe he brought to the song.”

Chi Ching Ching, himself a rising star in the Reggae/Dancehall scene, is the first artist signed to Dutty Rock Productions, the label owned and founded by multi-platinum music superstar Sean Paul. He recently featured on Sean Paul’s hit song ‘Crick Neck’ (10M views) and recently toured around Europe with him. Chi Ching Ching will be releasing his own debut album this year.

“Lalomu” is an Island/Jawaiian reggae track that features beautiful harmonies and RnB vocals from Kid Nesian fused with Jamaican stylings from Chi Ching Ching. It is sung in both English and Motu. “Lalomu” is a Motu/PNG expression meaning “I’m Yours”.

The song will be released worldwide on Fri 27th April 2018 and will be available on all major music platforms for streaming and downloads.

PNG radio announcers Loqie, Didi & Elton release hit single

asd

LOQIE, Didi and Elton from Port Moresby-based 99.5 Rait FM have released a song and a video that have gone viral.

The station’s popular breakfast hosts got the idea after Didi found a 10-year old video clip on YouTube of an original song from Loqie and Elton when they were in a band called Scholastic.

The clip had received 22,000 views and the songs had some popularity 10 years earlier.

When Didi played some of the audio on air, and the original clip was shared on the stations Facebook page, listeners suggested they audition for the TV Show Vocal Fusion, PNG’s version of Idol, that was about to run in Port Moresby.

At the audition, judge Eli Webb fell in love with the original song and suggested they re-release the track.

The radio trio approached CHM Supersound to ask if this could be done.

To prove that there was demand for the song, they were given three days to get 3,000 likes to show him that listeners really wanted to hear the song.

The Facebook page for 99.5 Rait FM already had over 45,000 fans, so getting 3,000 likes was easy.

The song has gone on to become a big hit, but the fans of the show wanted to see a video clip.

So CHM Supersound department went about creating something unique for PNG that had elements of humour, wasn’t too cheesy and would showcase the team and station.

The clip was launched on National TV earlier this month and a version was posted to the stations Facebook page.

In seven days, the clip attracted more than 20,000 views, 300 shares and 3,400 likes.

Program Director Ryan Khay said the team has kept their egos in check since this boost in popularity from the clip.
