A20 PRODUCTION STUDIO

A20 Production Studio is a newly established studio situated some kilometers outside the Nations Capital - Port Moresby. It is setup in Barakau village of the Central Province of PNG.

The studio is owned and managed by Betty Toea who also is a singer and a
musician of the popular Paramana Strangers 2 band.

With this vast experience and a family background of music has enable Betty and her family setup a studio that would help to record artist who cannot gain easy access to the major studios in Port Moresby.

Her husband John Toea is currently working with the CHM & Sons Ltd as a Sound Engineer for the CHM Multimedia Studio in Port Moresby and with his expertise tips for the studio you could be sure your music will be mixed down to your taste.

This Studio was established in February 2006 and later in October 2006 signed up with the CHM Supersound Studio as an affiliated studio which now has an advantage of having its recordings being manufactured and distributed by the CHM & Sons Ltd.

ALPHA STAR STUDIO

Alpha simply means first and that is just what Reiner likes to call his studio. The studio is actually called Alpha Star Studio since it is one of the first gospel studios to be established in the Islands Region.

This newly established studio is located in Kokopo a small town next to Rabaul the main town of the East New Britain Province. The studio is owned and managed by Reiner Thomas who is the son of Thomas Lulungan who also runs the Island Sound Studio.

Alpha Star had a humble beginning where Reiner started off by working as one of the sound engineers for the Island Sound studio thus after realizing that he was capable of setting up and running his own studio he setup the studio with the help of Island Sound.

Reiner stills works as a music engineer with the Island Sound whilst running his own studio at the same time.

Some of the popular artists recorded and released by Alpha under the guidance of Reiner include:

AMAT PRODUCTION STUDIO

Situated some in the western end of Papua New Guinea the Amat Production is located in Vanimo of the Sandaun Province as you would say in the land where the sun sets every day.

This studio was established recently by Cliff Mato due to the demand for the young musicians pursuing their dream and wanting to get their music recorded but do not have access to a recording studio.

Cliff who has a bit of music background was a band for the popular Saiau Amat 2 band that used to play in and around the Aitape area thus was the first band that he had hands on experience on when he recorded the band's album in his own studio Amat Production. Seeing the success of this album and the out come of the recording he decided to make this studio a real business which saw some artists requesting to record their album. This was the birth of the now known Amat Productions.

Cliff runs and manages the studio and he also assists artists and bands by playing as an assistant musician which is a double work but he loves his work and is determined to expand his business to other places in Papua New Guinea.

Sometimes after the establishment of the studio Cliff signed up with CHM Supersound Studio and had Amat Production become an affiliate studio.

BIG STUDIOS

Big Studios is one of the many studios that were recently established with a goal to promote positive quality music. It aims to capture the talents of young Papua New Guinea artists who may not have the opportunity to have their albums recorded and released.

It is situated in the main Unitech campus in Lae Morobe Province and is owned and operated by Dr. Fifia Matainaho who is a lecture at the University of Technology, he is joined by son Steven Matainaho who is the studio manager and friends Potangin Issac as sound engineer and Felix Koddy as the Production Manager.

Apart from providing recording services Big Studios is also specializes in Video and Graphics designing as well as Audio CD production.

BOUGAINVILLE SOUND STUDIO

Bougainville Sound Studio is a newly established studio that is managed and operated by Simon Dasiona. Simon hails from the beautiful Island of Bougainville and he is the owner of the Studio.

Simon is joined by Louie Warupi and Zhon Bosco who assist him as sound engineers. Teaming up with Louie who owns the Hall Sound Studio is a good combination for the running of Bougainville Sound Studio.

CYCLONE DIGITAL STUDIO

Located in Hohola the Cyclone Digital Studio is run and managed by Tarcissius Muganaua. He is assisted by three young talented sons Emmanuel, Nigel and Oscar who are very helpful.

Having three talented sons who assist him with the recordings or assist the bands and artists by playing as session musicians as well as sound engineering has Cyclone what it is today. The boys are very talented musicians who are self-taught and always strive for their work to be the best and be different from everyone else.

This studio is one of the best in the country with the latest digital recording equipments that makes its music sound the best. As heard in the music of the artist and bands that recorded with the studio, Cyclone surely has a different taste and beat in music.

Tarcissius had the studio become an affiliated studio with the CHM Supersound Studio thus enabling it's bands and artists to be marketed nationwide and having them being promoted via other medias. Most bands and artists of Cyclone Digital Studio have become a hit on most of the local radio stations whilst some get to be in the Top 10 weekly charts countdowns.

EAGLE SOUND STUDIO

As high as the eagle can soar, Eagle Sound Studio is one that is found some where in the heart of very tall Blue Mountains in the highlands of Papua New Guinea.

Lars Komp a veteran musician is the founder of the now known Eagle Sound Studio. Lars Komp who is well known to the people of Hagen back in the 90s for his live performance which gained him a name that is not easily forgotten decided to establish a studio that would cater for the Highland region's recording demands.

Lars is joined by John Siki another of his friends who assists him as an engineer. The two have work together to make this project a success but unfortunately in early 2007 Lars Komp lost his life leaving counterpart John Siki to run and manage the studio.

Established in 2003, this studio is located in Mt Hagen, Western Highland Province and the studio has been working alongside with CHM Supersound Studio ever since, thus having some of its recordings manufactured and distributed nationwide.

It is a small studio setting whose target audience is to get the whole of PNG however it has greater market in the highlands region and most of its artists have a huge highlands based fans.

After the death of Lars Komp the studio is now in the capable hands of John Siki and despite this loss Eagles Sounds is determined and set for a bigger and better production of its recordings.

ESSANCE MUSIC STUDIO

Essance maybe spelt essence which simply means the core, heart or the real meaning is what Eddie Elias decided to calls his studio. The studio is called Essance Music Studio and is owned and run by Eddie Elias.

The studio aims to record artists who have been unable to get a recording contract with other recording Studios.

Eddie Elias is an experienced sound engineer, was one of the engineers for the CHM Supersound Studio back in the 90s. He left to pursue his own dream thus seeing the demand for new bands and artist vying to get their demos and albums recorded he decided to set up his studio. Seeing some of the artists and bands unable to get a recording contract and going back disappointed Eddie decided he would now give these aspiring talents a second chance to prove that they were musicians in their own little ways.

This led to the establishment of the now known Essance Music Studio in 2003 currently located at Rainbow Estate, Gerehu in Port Moresby. Eddie had the studio affiliated to CHM Supersound Studio and has very close ties with the Studio which helps promote and markets its musicians through the media.

The studio has the professional expertise of sound engineers who have recorded unique sounds of locally produced music.

The Bosi Souls and Yangoru Simoe to name a few are some of the artists that have hit the target with their songs aired on radio stations.

EZY WAVES STUDIO

Walter Topagal decided to setup a studio in the heart of the beautiful Madang Province so he could record and release the young talented musicians who wanted to have their albums recorded but where unfortunate due to limited access to recording facilities.

The studio named as Ezy Waves Studio is located in Madang town and currently owned and managed by Walter himself. He his joined by two very talented friends Pengau Nengo Junior and Steven Turik as sound engineers.

Doing two things at one time that is managing the studio and at the same time recording music is a tough job but Walter has taken the challenge to make this dream of owning and operating a studio a life time career. In 2002 the studio engineers formed a band and called themselves Sketch back in Madang.

This was a studio project and the boys had hands on experience with their own band where they got to record and release the album now titled ‘Corruption'. This album was released later in March 2006. So far Ezy Waves has recorded one artist which was the studio's project that the boys had worked on:-

GOOD MUSIC AVAILABLE RECORDS

GMA stands for Good Music Available and the Motto is: ‘To promote the Rural Bands of Papua New Guinea'. The name and the motto denotes many young talented Papua New Guineans who are in the rural areas who are not given the opportunity to record their music.

The Studio itself is located at Section 239, Lot 24, Gerehu Stage 2, Port Moresby and was started by George Arua the founder of Mirikini Thunderers Electric Band. He started it as a hobby in 1979 and recorded his own band music thus it was established for their own auditions to improve their band performances.

In 1998 CHM approached the young Stanley for an affiliation.

GMA is proud to be one of those first small studios to affiliate with CHM and since then CHM has been very supportive of the studio by producing GMA releases. GMA Studio is a family studio and the staffs are all family members.

They are also self-taught musicians and engineers. George Arua the founder is a self-taught engineer who has taught his sons Stanley and Scott to record using the equipment and since then Stanley has moved on, Scott Arua is now the Sound Engineer who is very talented and has assisted many groups with their music and continues to assist those groups who are not able to produce their own music. GMA to-date has recorded and produced over 12 groups of which at least 10 were manufactured and distributed by CHM..

HILLSONGS MUSIC

The Hillsongs Music Studio is a gospel recording studio that is owned and run by the Hillsongs Church of Australia.

The studio is located at Castle Hill of the New South Wales State of Australia. It has over the years recorded and released some of the best Christian music in the world apart from other gospel studio.

It records a lot of live recordings, music production (CDs, DVDs and Cassettes), publishing of Christian books and other articles as well as music books containing their records.

HELA SOUND STUDIO

Established in early 2005; this studio was setup after the successful production of the Sounds of Hela band which had its first album titled ‘Honowane' recorded with the Chin H. Meen Supersound Studio.

Dennis Tali the lead vocalist of the band seeing the success, saw this potential in music and there was surely a room for breaking into the music scene alongside with the other studios thus this was the beginning of the Hela Sounds Studio. Dennis then had Benjamin David introduced to Ken Minape and Joe Ekara which saw the humble start of Hela Sounds. Benjamin who then was working with CHM & Sons Ltd as a Computer Graphics artist took this challenge thus helped Ken, Joe and Dennis with the setting up of a computerize studio.

After the studio was setup the boys had a triall rundown for the studios sound test and this was when Benjamin had their rendition of ‘Black Woman' originally by Sanatana and a tribute song for the late Sir Bill Skate recorded using the studios very own equipments. The two songs were later aired on Karai National Radio by Radio personality Matilda Gaveva during a promotional interview for the studio.

Two years later in 2007 Benjamin had the boys sign up with CHM Supersound Studio has an affiliated studio which would allow their products to be manufactured and distributed nationwide through CHM and Sons Ltd. Due to work commitment Benjamin left whilst he trained Eddie Tapora another aspiring young talent of the Rising Star Studio to carry on as a fulltime sound engineer.

The studio is now situated at Kanage Street in Five Mile of Port Moresby and has a small studio setting that aims to provide recording facilities for the grassroot artists with low income. The studio is now run and managed by Ken Minape with Joe Ekara assisting him.

ISLAND SOUND STUDIO

With much pleasure, Island Sounds Studio presents to you their 8-track studio and Multimedia studio located in the heart of Rabaul Town, East New Britain Province.

The main man behind the whole production is Executive Producer, Thomas Lulungan, and the First National Chief Engineer for CHM Supersound Studio.

Since the establishment of this independent studio, the Islands Sounds have maintained close relation with CHM Supersound Studio.

The Studio itself has a great impact in the Islands region producing a unique variety of music ranging from gospel, Island rock and a whole lot more including a number of great talents.

Apart from Pacific Gold Studio many artists come and recorded here especially from the neighboring islands.

JIBES STUDIO

The Jibes studio was founded by a group of boys who reside in Eriku a suburb in Lae - Morobe Province.

These boys who then had formed the Jibes band decided to call the studio Jibes which means co-operation.

The studio is located in Lae - Morobe Province and the Jibes band is the studio first recording band.

Jibes Studio is an affiliate with the CHM Supersound Studio which enables its productions to be manufactured and marketed throughout PNG through CHM.

KCT Sound Studio is owned and operated by Kala Navu and is located in the Nations Capital - Port Moresby. Kala had the Studio established and affiliated with the CHM Supersound Studio in 2003.

KALIBOBO PRODUCTION STUDIO

Kalibobo Production is a recently established studio that is owned and managed by Luke Banag a popular artist from Madang.

Luke Banag is from Danben village in the outskirts of the Wali country and is an artist who is has been performing in the PNG music industry for sometime now. You have see and heard him perform live in concerts and other outings with the famous Junior Wali Hits band of which he is the lead vocalist.

Now running his own studio as well as recording artists and bands you can fully count on his expertise for your music. With the vast experience that he has had while being an artist Luke has decided to not only play music but record and produce music himself.

His now has the studio become an affiliated studio to the CHM Supersound Studio and thus this has strengthen their ties in music so now artists and bands from his studio can have their albums manufactured and distributed through CHM & Sons Ltd throughout the country.

Luke Banag a musician and singer himself has got what it takes to be a musician likewise owning a studio.

LIMBO STUDIO

Limbo Studio is an international studio that is affiliated to the CHM Supersound. It is one of the smaller independent studios owned and operated by Bobby Lah.

Bobby Lah himself is the Executive Producer of Limbo and he is assisted by Hardie and Biat with the sound systems. The Studio is located in the Solomon Islands; a country just far east of Papua New Guinea.

The style of music produced by the Limbo Studios ranges from the Solomon Island version of reggae to calipso and a bit of country music to blend the music.

Popular artist recorded by Limbo Studio is Bobby Lah.

MANGROVE STUDIOS

Mangrove Studios is one of the recognized studios in the South Pacific. It is located in Nouméa, New Caledonia and is operated and owned by Allan Lanconte who himself has quite a vast experience in the musical industry.

He was once a drummer for the New Caledonian and French band called Pas Possible until 1982. In 1982, Mr. Lanconte began operating a record store and then in 1989 the opportunity arose to develop the sound engineering aspect of music as a career. This has being his business and passion to this day.

The Mangrove Studios specializes in producing the best Pacific music. They also aid several of the artists gain much popularity by creating captivating video clips such as that of Black Rose's ‘Raude' and Matatoa's ‘Tai Mai', which was shot entirely on Easter Island.

Mangrove has a bag of success stories with hits from artists like Apprentice and Sharzy from the Solomon Islands, Vanessa Quai from Vanuatu, Mexem from New Caledonia and Justin Wellington from New Zealand.

MOSAIC STONES STUDIO

Mosaic Stones Studio is an international studio that is now affiliated with the CHM Supersound Studio.

The Studio itself is located in Switzerland. CHM Supersound Studio since having Mosaic Stones has one of its international affiliates markets some of the studio records through its (CHM) retail stores and website nation wide.

One of the popular artists recorded and released by the Mosaic Stones studio is Jay H whose music was produced both by him (Jay H) and Sam Hanni.

MUSIC WORK STUDIO

Musik Workz Studio was co-founded by both Simon Tazzi and Kala Navu. The studio is a joint project that was agreed upon by both parties who then decided to setup the studio with Kala Navu as the executive producer and sound engineer and Simon Tazzi as the technical sound engineer.

The studio is situated at Tokarara a suburb in Port Moresby in the National Capital District. It is a home-base production with the aim of recording quality and original music.

Simon Tazzy is an experienced musicians who has in the past wrote and sung many good pieces together with Kala Navu are determined to run this business as good partners thus with this exposure he has in the music industry will surely have an impact in the running a studio with Kala.

The Musik Workz Studio records a variety of music that range from local beats to reggae, dance, modern funk beats that suite the variety of listeners and for the local market especially along the Aroma Coast and the Motuan Coastline of the Central Province as well as the residents of the Nations Capital.

PALM SLAVE STUDIOS

Established in 2002 as Palm Slave Studio by John Kila, the studio is set in Section 15 of the Kimbe town in the West New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea.

The studio has a multi-media setting and a multi-media team consisting of John Kila who is the executive producer joined by Danny Withan and Joe Marum as sound engineers. They record a variety of music style ranging from reggae, local rock, string band and gospel thus their major market for this production is mainly in the Momase and the Niugini Islands regions.

John Kila who is now with the CHM Supersound Studio in Port Moresby as a sound engineer has left the studio in the capable hands of Danny and Joe to run the studio.

PAU STUDIO

PAU Studio is located in the scenic settings of the Pacific Adventist University, 14 Mile, Sogeri Road, just outside Port Moresby. The Studio was affiliated with CHM in December 2003 and was formally established in 2004.

The studio is a multi media studio set up by computers and stereo mixers (16 Channel Mixer). In March 2007 we just built a new studio. The studio contains soundproof walls donated by 3ABN Television. It contains a mini- film set, a solo recording booth, 2 x video edit studios, recording studio and a band room. It also contains a large area for recording choirs and/or conducting training in multimedia. Recently we have purchased a HDV deck and a 4 channel video mixer for our live performances.

The Studio is engineered by various students of musical expertise. The Studio's Executive Producer is Dr. Nemani Tausere.

Since the establishment of the studio in 2004, PAU Multi Media have gained a good relationship with the CHM Supersound Studio.

Being multi cultural the studio focuses on producing gospel music locally and throughout the South Pacific like choirs, Acapella, Ballads and many more.

PAU Multi Media continues to produce a wide range of gospel albums throughout the South Pacific.

PACIFIC GOLD STUDIOS

Pacific Gold Studios (PGS) was founded by Greg Seeto, operating in Rabaul, East New Britain in the early 1980s, capturing contemporary PNG music in the humblest of beginnings, along with CHM Supersound Studios.

A few examples of the rich musical legacy that Pacific Gold Studio was responsible for includes Barike, Kopex, George Telek, John Wong, Kanai Pineri, Quakes and Patti Potts Doi.

In 2003, CHM bought Pacific Gold Studios and became the sole distributor of over 20 years worth of PNG music - and Executive Producer Mr. Raymond Chin, MBE with the help of the latest technology and his multi-talented multi-media team are now in the process of digitally re-mastering the entire PGS collection.

REKO SONICS

Reko Sonics is located in Goroka in the Eastern Highlands Province. The Studio was established in 2002 after George Siwi decided to move away from Kumul Studio to form this newly recognized studio.

Reko Sonic Studios have taken into hand the numerous recording talents. Since the Kumul Studio days, it has maintained its bond with the CHM Supersound Studio. It is through this bond that CHM Supersound Studio continues to secure places for artists on TV Shows and through out the radio waves.

SOUTHERN STAR STUDIO

Southern Star Studio was established in 2001 in the East New Britain Province. The Studio is located at Kerevat, Rabaul in the East New Britain Province and the main man behind the whole production is executive Producer, Glen Low, who is a former member of the famous Barike Band.

Southern Star aims specifically at promoting, producing and training specialists (Artists & Bands who perform), a wide variety ranging from Tolai rock beats, modern funk, reggae and Papua New Guinea contemporary music.

With the technology of mixing consoles and live instrumental recordings, Southern Star guarantees to bring to life the best of PNG musics and artists.

Over the recent years Southern Star has built a relationship with CHM Supersound Studio. CHM promotes and markets the best artists that come out of developing studio.

SUNRISE MUSIC PRODUCTIO

Sunrise Music Production is owned and managed by Bernard Hanga the famous left-handed lead guitarist who has a vast experience with the music industry.

Bernard has been performing in almost all Bougainville bands thus this gives him the experience to manage a studio. He has recorded with the Crisis Survivors band, Trouble Zone and recently included in the Niu Age Band has the Front man. Being an experience song writer and lead guitarist you can fully depend on his expertise to get the best music you desire.

This talented musician from Malasang village of Buka in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville had his studio established on Buka Island and decided that he would help the youths of Bougainville by recording their music thus to keep them away from other illegal activities and to realize their dreams despite the 10 year crisis they had gone through.

Bernard first had his hands on his own band where he recorded and released the now known band Niu Age and had it Re-mastered by Emmanuel Muganaua of the Cyclones Digital Studio thus this was the start of the Sunrise Music Production.

Now affiliated with the leader in music CHM Supersound Studio the Sunrise Music Production has good ties with the studio and is able to get its recordings distributed through any CHM shops nationwide.

SUNSET STUDIO

Sunset Studio was established in 2000 and was later affiliated with CHM Supersound Studio in 2002. The Studio is located at Bogi Place, Lealea Village in the Central Province. The Executive Producer is Tau Dikana, who is the main man behind the production.

Services provided by the Sunset Studio include: recording, mixing, mastering albums and providing musical entertainment for parties and other music concerts or gigs.

Some of the artists and bands recorded and released by Sunset are: Cee Pee, Mangi Buria, Coloz, Darebo and Y Mate.

SWAMP SOUNDS STUDIOS

Swamp Sounds Studios is owned by Basil Greg and Roy Biyama. The Studio is located in Balimo Town, Middle Fly District of the Western Province.

The Studio Project was made available by the Member for Middle Fly District, Honourable Roy Biyama, Governor for Western Province, Honourable Dr. Bob Danaya and the Middle Fly Administration because Western Province musicians of all types have a big interest to expose their talents and compete in the music industry of today within Papua New Guinea and abroad.

TRIBE RECORDS STUDIO

Tribe Records is the studio that official recorded and released the now popular band South Tribe in conjunction with CHM Supersound Studio. The studio is located at Henao Drive, Gordons in the Nations Capital Port Moresby and is owned and run by Richard Tokiapron who his joined by Chief Sound Engineer Victor Chapek.

It was officially established in 2005 as the Tribal Records Ltd and later in 2006 was registered as a company. The following year (2007) the managing director, Richard had it affiliated with the CHM Supersound Studio.

Richard says the aim of the studio is "to empower youths in our society to develop confidence in believing that they can go a long way in life if their voice is head through music". They make this possible by opening their doors for recording.

Tribal Records produces a variety of music ranging from R&B/Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance - House Music, Local, Jazz, String band and Gospel music.

The artists that Tribal Records has recorded so far are: Gunta, Tartungun, Uncle Sam, Big Nai and Kesema and South Tribe.

By recording and releasing music keeps these young men away from joining the criminals' activities.

TROPICAL SOUND STUDIO

Max Makain is the proud owner of the Tropical Sound Studio that is located in the Lumi area of the Sandaun Province of Papua New Guinea.

Tropical Sound Studio came about when Max who back then was the band leader for the Supe Aero Mates band and they use to play in and around the Lumi area of Sandaun. Max then decided to setup a studio that would cater for that part of the country who didn't have a recording studio.

He eventually had the studio establish in 2004 and named it the Tropical Sound Studio and later during that year had it become an affiliated studio with the CHM Supersound Studio.

Max is now the executive producer and sound engineer for the Tropical Sound Studio which is well equip with a 128 track digital workstation that caters for all of the recordings of its bands and artists.

Some of the popular artists recorded and released by the Tropical Sound Studio include: Sumaks Mela, Kawas of Siax, Ognien Slaves, Anaka of Malol, Jaros of Wom, Pathfinders and more.

TUMBUNA TRACK STUDIO

Tumbuna Track Studio is located in the beautiful Madang Province of Papua New Guinea. Tumbuna Tracks Studio is a 48 track studio. It has professional Sound Engineers. These engineers have over the years defined and record a unique blend of contemporary PNG music for the PNG and Pacific markets. The main man behind the whole production is Executive Producer Chris Seeto.

Tumbuna Track Studio has a strong relationship with CHM Supersound which promotes and markets its musicians and music through this website, promotions on TV, newspapers and other media.

XERROX STUDIO

Xerrox studio is owner and operated by the Poowa brothers who are of Bougainville origins and with big brother Cornelius as the executive producer.

The Poowa brothers are:

Solomon.................... Sub-assistant Sound Engineer

Located on the beautiful island of Bougainville this studio is situated in the town of Buka on Naza Haus where the Poowa brothers run two businesses a store and a studio. Xerrox is the major studio in the Bougainville Island where most of its production is sold mainly in Bougainville.

The studio is a project setup by the brothers to enable them to record and release artists who one way or the other want to record their music but are unable to record due to probably no access to a recording studio etc.

It came to the limelight with their first assignment on Fragile back in 2001 thus later saw a lot of artists coming in from the Highlands, East New Britain and the neighboring country Solomon Island where Stuibo who was the first reggae band from this region to record with the Studio.

Today the studio records a wide range of artists from different backgrounds and various music styles.
